lECKIE BEATS DONOVAN. A FURIOUS FIGHT. (By Telegraph—Per Press Association) NEW PLYMOUTH. Nov. 1. In a contest that will go down as tlie greatest one ever witnessed in New Plymouth" ‘ Johnny Leckie (Napier) S.llf, wrested the featherweight title from Tommy Donovan (Waitara) 8.12£, on Saturday night. Leckie displayed a return to his best form, and on two occasions, in the fourth and final rounds, Donovan just beat the count. At times out on his feet, Donovan fought with indomitable ijourage/ The bout was marked by sustained and furious rallies, and the spectators were in a state of intense excitement throughout.
