A RACING SET-BACK
AMMON RA A TIRED HORSE. (Australian Press Association.) (Received this day at 10.15 a.m.) SYDNEY, November 2. The Sydney ‘•Herald’' in an article says: “The 1931 Victoria Derby was responsible for one of the greatest set-backs in the history of classic racing. Ammon 11a, who was thought to have had a mortgage on the race tailed to gain a place, while Johnnie Jason, who was not a match lor the New Zealander in the Sydney Derby, revealed improved stamnia and determination. r lhere was considerable interference in the straight, Ammon R-a and Chatham being the duel sufferers, though M. M.cCarten admitted that Ammon Ra was beaten at the time, and at the finish he seemed to be a verv tired horse.
