Plying the Australian flag from its masthead the freighter “City of Toronto” docked here on Thursday from Montreal, bearing her “Good Will” cargo from Australia. An official welcome was extended from the Board of Trade, the Canadian Manufacturers’ Association, and representative business men.
A hope that inter-Empire trade proposals would result from Premier Bennett’s suggestion that an Imperial Economic Conference be held as soon as Dossihle was expressed by the Australian Trade Commissioner.
The ship’s cargo included two kangaroos, a gift of Queensland. They were led ashore and were presented to the Mayor, Mr W. J. Stewart, by Mr MacGregor, the Australian Trade Commissioner.
