ACCIDENTS & FATALITIES
A BROKEN THIGH. (By Telegraph —Per Press Association) AUCKLAND, October 29. In spite of her 82 years, Mrs Rebecca 4 Hazard, who lives alone in a cottage at Weymouth, was able to drag herself for a distance of over two chains into her home after she had suffered a fracture of a thigh this morning. Shortly after eight o’clock, as she was carrying a bucket of, water to her fowls, Mrs Hazard slipped find fell heavily, tier house, is some distance from her neighbours, and she was unable to attract attention. When her cries tor help were unheeded, she began her painful crawl to the house. She had to rest every, minute or two, but eventually she reached shelter. At lunch-time a friend came to;the house, and found Mrs., ,Hazard in,, great pain. A doctor wa^, ; palled, and after attention. Mrs Haziayd was taken by ambulance to the \ Au'ckland Hospital, i Her condition is fairly serious.
