SATURDAY, OCTOBER 31st. lYA’s programme this evening wid introduce another new artist to Auckland listeners in the person of Mi Thomas Cooper, who possesses a very fine bass voice. He will sing several numbers with orchestral accompanime ( pt K “Lee Fore Brace,’’ popular with all. I is-, tellers, will give the first part of a thrilling sea story, “The Mutiny.” Popular songs will be sung by Miss Ehfeeii tSmithson, and orchestral music is being supplied by the Salon Orchestra. 2YA will' be broadcasting the last v of Wellington’s community sing songs for this season.
Mr L. C. Quane, a popular Christchurch tenor, who has just returned from a trip abroad, will be singing for 3YA. He wilt present some familiar numbers : “1 Heard You Go By,” “Duna,” “Sally in our Alley,” and “The Sea Gipsy/’ Mrs D. W. Stallard’s contralto solos will include two old time songs. Jazz improvisations will be played by Miss. ■Edna Jarden (pianiste). The Chatterlioxes will introduce humour into the programme. There will be cornet solos by Mr R. Ohlson and selections by the Studio Octet.
A Hallow’een Concert, to be given in •His Majesty’s Theatre, Dunedin, under the auspices of the Dunedin Burns’ Club will be broadcast by 4YA this evening.
MONDAY, NOVEMBER 2nd. 2YA’s programme this evening will include a short recital of Russian music by that accomplished pianist, Mr Ernest Jenner, and Miss Hilda Chudley (contralto). Mr Jenner will play “Theme and Variations” by Glazounov, a most delightful work, and Miss Hilda Chudley will sing three beautiful songs by Rachmaninoff. Mrs B. B. Wood (mezzocontralto) and Miss Monica Malfroy (soprano) will sing two duets, and will aiso be heard in solo numbers. Mr Ernest Glading will sing a group of baiitone songs. The numbers by the Orchestrina will include a Hungarian Dance by Dvorak, and “Les Deux Pierrots” by Drigo. Miss Kathleen Bond (contralto), Miss Elsie D. Rutter '(soprano), Mr Leslie Stewart '(baritone) and Mr James Laurenson (humorous reciter) will be associated with Derry’s Military Band (conductor J. • Scott) and the Christchurch 'Broadcasting Trio in providing the programme for 3YA. Dr iE. N. Merrington, Principal of Knox College, Dunedin, will be the lecturer on 4YA’s International Programme this evening. Subject: “Public Opinion on International Affairs.” Silent day at IYA.
