RADIO PROGRAMME
(Supplied by the Radio Broadcasting Company of N.Z. Ltd.) FRIDAY, OCTOBER 30th. Mr Rex Harrison, well Known baritone fiom Christchurch, has been specially engaged to appear on lYA’s programme this evening, and he will sing the “Prologue” from “I Pagliacci,” “Tangi,” and “Waiata Maori.” The other vocalist for the evening will be Miss Minifred Johnson, well known Auckland contralto. Orchestral music will be provided by /Reg. Morgan and his Orchestra, and, as usual, some very fine and varied items have been included. Mr Dan Flood will provide a humorous interlude. 2Y A’s variety programme should prove acceptable to all listeners. The Orchestrina will play the overture ‘'Southern Star,” the selection “On with the' Dance,” the suite “Three Light Pieces” and ‘the fantasia “Vision of Salome.” A feature of the programme will be the performance by Mr R. M. Strathmore (concertina virtuoso) will be heard in a number of familiar melodies. Also on thin programme will be Master Stewart Adair (boy soprano). The major portion of the vocal items will he given by the Lyric Quartet who will be heard in solos and quartettes. A recital of negro spirituals and plantation songs wilr be featured at 3YA this evening by Hubert. > Garter (tenor), Mrs Esme Stevens (soprano), Miss Nancy Bowden (contralto), Mr Finlay Robb (baritone) and Miss Lilian Harper (at the piano). Also on the evening’s programme will be Mr Clive Hincl 1 e (baritone), the Rangiorn Hawaiian Orchestra and a trio (Gladys Vincent, Francis Bate and Merle -Miller). Mr Te A.ri Pitama j will give a talk on “Maori Customs.” At 4YA, Mr Arthur Gordon’s Dance Rand will be playing popular hits and the latest dance tunes. ■ Popular quartettes will be sung by the Happy Four and there will be solos by Miss Mary 'Somerville (eonitraito) and Mr G. Crawford (tenor). The Radiettes will contribtite their share of the programme in j song, patter and dance. SATURDAY, OCTOBER 31st. lYA’s programme this evening wifi introduce smother new artist to Auckland listeners in the person of Mr Thofnas Cooper, who possesses a very fine bass voice. He will -sing several numbers with orchestral accompaniment. ".Lee Fore Brace,” popular with all listeners, will give the first part of a thrilling sea story, “The Mutiny.” Popular songs will be /sung by Miss Ehteen Smithson, and orchestral music is being supplied by the Salon Orchestra. 2YA will be broadcasting the last of Wellington’s community sing -songs for this seasfin.
Mr L. 0. Quane, a popular Christ-•cl-.urch tenor, who has just returned from a trip abroad, will be singing for 3YA. He will present some familiar mifnbers ; "I Heard You Go By,” “Duna,” "Sally in our Alley,” and “The Sea Gipsy.” Mrs D. W. Stallard's contralto solos will include two old time songs. Jazz improvisations will be played by .Miss Edna JarrlJn (pianiste). The Chatterboxes will introduce humour into the programme. Thete ' will be cornet solos by Mr R. Ohlson and selections by the Studio Octet. A Hallow'een Concert, to be given in iHis Majesty's Theatre, Dunedin, under the auspices of the Dunedin Burns Club will be broadcast by 4YA this evening.
