arahura stock sale. Yesterday's fixture at the above yards was responsible tor an entry of 72 head of extra prime cattle. The yarding ot J. Condon from the Mahiitahi was a particularly choice line ot beautifully finished cattle, if anything the bullocks being, too big for the season of the year. Nevertheless butchers were keen for quality *and bidding was in consequence free front start to finish'of the sale. Extra heavy beef made from 2!)/- to SI - per hundred, medium prime rattle to 32 -, lighter sorts to 33-. Prime ehifers to 31/-. lighter sorts to 32 6. Heavy cows of which there was a fair sprinkling, were- not so keenly sought allot and varied from 23/- to 28/(1. The top price for bullocks was L'l3; //.heifers £ll/2/6; cows £9/2/6. There was a larger yarding of store sheep, most of which were ewes rind lambs The market was on a par w/th late rates for best grades. Aged and inferior sorts lacked competition. There was another large entry of fat sheep. Good quality medium weights were in fair demand. Very heavy or over-fat consignments commanded less favour with belchers. The market was slightly easier all round. Best heavy wethers sold to 25s -lOd, prime heavy 21s to 22s 6d. prime 19s to 20s 6d, medium 17s to 18s 6d, light 15s to 16s 6d, plain from 11s lOd, best- heavy i?;wos !tn 27s lOd, prime heavy 19s to 20s lOd, prime 17s to 18s 6d, medium 15s to 16s 6d, light les to 11s, backward from 11s 6d. There was a good supply of fat ,nmbs, the market opening at an advance in the previous week, this bass being maintained. Extra heavy lambs sold to 25s Id, prime 19s to 21s 6d. medium 16s 6d to 18s 9d. There was a full yarding of fat cattle, the quality generally being good. Cows and heifers were in excess of requirements, .only choice- lots maintaining recent values. Best bullocks met good competition. Best heavy s,teens sold to £ls 2s 6d, heavy £l2 15s to £l3 15s, prime £ll 5s to £l2 7s 6d, ...medium £7 15s 'to £B os, light from £6. *Best heifers sold to £ll 6s, prime £8 £s to £9 15s, medium £6 15s to £7 15s, light from £5 12s 6d. Best heavy cows sold ,to £ll 2s 6d, prime £7 15s to £3 12s 6d, medium £5 10s to £6 lon, light from £4 2s 6d.
There was a lighter yarding of fat pigs. Best porkers were firmer. Bacouers wore at !a- e rates. Average prices were: Porkers 38s to 41s 6d, heavier 42s 6d to 465, choppers £3 to £5 3s 6d, baconers 47s 6il to 55s 6d. heavier £3 to £3 7s 6d.
