WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 28th. {, , The outstanding feature on lYA’s (programme this evening will be two pianoforte recitals to be given by Miss 'Eva Stern, 'who was for some time an artist ; with the . National Broadcastiig 'Company, New York, and was one of America’s best known radio artists. Miss Amy Eaton, a soprano who is well known in Wanganui and Wellington, will sing several numbers. Miss 'Noni Wright will be making her first appearance before the microphone in humorous items, but she is already wed known to Auckland listeners for her work with the "Little Theatre Society.” . The ’Salon Orchestra will provide the instrumental portion of the programme and will also accompany •Mt Len Barnes, baritone, who is singing “Star of the Desert” and a group of ballads.”

Dr Guy 'H. Scholefield, 0.8. E., will be the lecturer on 2YA’s International Programme.

3YA’s programme will include a twenty minutes’ -relay of items given at the Radiant Hall during the third annual Children’s Festival of Music. One hundred and fifty members of the Training 'College classes and Boys’ High School orchestras wilt be taking part under the direction of Mr T. Vernon Griffiths. The festival is of a non-competitive nature. Contributing to the studio programme will be Mrs iW. B. Harris (soprano), Miss ■Merle Miller (pianiste), M>r James Shaw j(tenor), the Rev. C. F. Cross (baritone) and the Studio Octet. Selections from Lane-Wilsori’s melodious song-cycle “Dorothy’s Wedding Day," as sung by the Select Four, trios played by Mons. B. L. de Rose, Messrs A..H. Pettitt and L. Hunter, the ’cello solo • Chanson Triste” pfayed by Mr Hunter and two Welsh songs by Mr J. E. Davis will comprise the first hour of 4YA’s programme. Then will follow a half hour’s lecture recital on ‘‘Grand Opera" given under the auspices of the Society of Professional Musicians of Otago by Mons. Paul Saldaigne, assisted by Mr C. G. Drummond. THURSDAY, OCTOBER 29th. This evening, IYA will broadcast a studio concert by the Auckland Orphans’ Club Orchestra and, as usual, a particularly fine programme has been arranged. Of special interest will be a sea chanty to be played hv the Orchestra; conducted by Mr Trevor Sparling, who arranged the music. Orphan Frank Campbell will sing several ballads while humour will be given by Orphan Cedric Zahaia who is well : known to the followers of the ‘“Litt'e Theatre Society* ■ 2YA will relay from the Opera House, Wangatiui, a concert by the Wanganui Gairison Band. Professor Tocker will be the lecturer on 3YA’s International Programme, speaking on "The Economic Situation of Germany.’’ •Silent day at 4YA.
