CYPRUS RISING
RENEWED CONFLICTS. (United Press Association.—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) LONDON. October 26. It is alleged that at Kyt’enia, disturbances were instigated by the Orthodox Bishop of Kyrenia. There is only a small police detachment at this town which hitherto had been quiet, but on Sunday, a mob was incited to tear down and destroy the Commissioner’s Union Flag and hoist the Greek flag. Military reinforcements were sent and the situation is in hand. Reports from the country districts indicate minor disturbances, including the destruction of a bridge, and cutting <>|’ telegraph wires. A mob attacked the police station at Eauagusta. ♦ Reinforcements from Egypt arrived at Cyprus this morning and hurried to Limassol.
At Limassol the mob attacked ana burnt, th© police station, and als© detroved the property of loyalists. The situation is now tense in many districts.
Further rioting lias occurred in Famagusta. The police there fii’ect, killing one person and wounding three. Numerous arrests has been made, including a Communist leader, who was urging tile overthrow of the British.
