DEMENTED NEGRO

CAUSES FOUR DEATHS. (United Press Association.—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) VANCOUVER, October 21. Four persons lay dead within an hour when, at Durham, North Carolina, Everett McLean, a Negro, suddenly became insane, and began shooting. McLean was under arrest by the sheriff, who was bringing him and the members of his family into the city in a motor car, when McLean drew a revolver and shot the sheriff dead. The unguided car was then wrecked against a tree, killing McLean’ sister. McLean crawled out, shot his wile, and then suicided a few minutes later.
