SYDNEY October i!J 111 n,n official statement, issu-.l by the President, Mr O’Malley Wood, on behalf of the Commissioners of tne Government Savings Bank, in reply to Mr Scull in, regret is expressed that the Prime Minister should have seen fit to make a statement of so uncompromising a character. The Commissiuiiei s’ statement points out that the present Board had never given any consideration to any definite offer from the Commonwealth Bank, and that the proposals put forward for amalgamation were of .such an ungenerous nature that they were net- acceptable to them.
