At 2YA, the 2YA “Musical Portrait’’ will be in the hands of Mr Claude Tanner, who will play .Saint Saens’ beautiful “ ’Cello Concerto .in A Minor’’ with Madame Evelyn de Manny at the piano. Another interesting item .on the programme will be Mr Harry Brusey's presentation of a part of Vaughan Williams' song cycle “On Wem'ock Edge.’’ The Ariel Singers, always most welcome to listeners, will present one of their delightful programmes of concerted ana solo numbers. Their quartettes will include "The .Sea Hath its Pearls,’ “The Wind,” and “Richmond Hah:” The Orchestrina will play Dvorak’s “Slavonic* Rhapsodic, No. 2.” a concert waltz, “Reverie” and other numbers.

3YA will relay from Ashburton, a concert by the Ashburton Choral' Society under Mr W. H. Dixon. The first half of the programme will include orchestral numbers and parts songs by members of the Society, with soios by Miss Gladys Brooks (soprano), Madame Anne Harper ■i(contralto), Mr Ernest Rogers (tenor) and Mr L. A. Booth (baritone). The same vocalists will be the solists in the cantata, “A Tale of Old Japan,” which will occupy the second half of the programme. The speaker on 4YA’s International Programme will be Mr J. Ctossley Clitheroe, Lecturer in Music at Dunedin Training College. His subject will be “Polk Music of the Nations. ’’ Silent day IYA. TUESDAY, OCTOBER 20th. During lYA’s International' Programme this evening, Dr E. B. Gunson, President of the Auckland Society.of Arts, will speak on “The International Outlook on Art." 2YA's studio concert will be ol the popular type. The Salon Orchestra will be heard in “Gabrielle Suite,” “Concertino for Clarionet and Orchestra, ’> “Canzonetta,” the suite “Enfant Pi’od'igue,” the .selection “Maild of the East,” and other numbers. The Harmony Four, a novelty instrumental and vocai' quartet, will delight listeners with up-to-date melodies. The vocalists for the evening will be Miss Phyllis Leighton (mezzo-soprano), and Mr A. W r . Beckford (baritone). The St. Kilda .Band and assisting artists will provide 4YA's concert. An excellent,, programme has been arranged by the conductor of the band, Mr das. Dixon. The 'Harmonists; a mixed quartet, will sing concerted numbers and. there will be solos by Miss MaeMatheson (soprano), Miss Margaret Green (contralto), and Mr C. S. 'Hawes (baritone). Bandsman Christie wii'l play a coinet solo and Mr Ted Heaney, a very clever exponent of the piano-aeeordeon, will contribute items. Sileni day at 3YA.
