SPANISH DIVORCE

The Cortes approved of a revolutionary divorce law permitting marriages to be dissolved by mutual consent or on a petition by either husband, or wife, provided the,re is a just cause. Staunch..'-Catholics, .appealed against the new measure, which is regarded as a most sweeping social change. There were anti-Roman Catholic riots in many Spanish cities, including Bilbao, Saragossa and Oviedo, where convents were set on fire.
Eighteen people were seriously injured in street, fights at Oalladalia.
