MISSING

M.V. “KOTITI”. CARGO WASHED ASHORE. (By Telegraph—Per Press Association Jj WELLINGTON, October 16. The Secretary of the Post and Telegraph Department has received, the following message from the Chief Postmaster at Westport:—“lt is reported that the m.v. Kotiti which left Westport at' four a.in. on* Saturday last for Foxton, has not reached her destination. • It is feared that the vessel has had some mishap/ Approximately fifty drums, branded “Skilton, Westport,” have been found on the beach at Kaikoka. The Kotiti Was carrying coal below, and also empty drums and deck cargo. NO WORD OF VESSEL. FROM ANYL COASTAL POINT. WELLINGTON, October 16. Captain S. Holm, the Managing Director of Holm and Coy., Wellington agents for the Kotiti, hias received word that drums have been found on the Kaikoka beach, and that the drums are almost definitely those which formed the. deck cargo of the Kotiti. Captain Holm stated that he had communicated with Foxton, Westport Farewell Spit and Pariiparaumu, and no word had been received of the Kotiti. The weather on the west Coast had been very heavy early this week, but since Thursdpy morning it had cleared. Captain Holm expected the Kotiti to have been sheltering in one of the West. Coast bays until Thursday, but had expected h<sr to reach Foxton this morning. Captain Johansen is the master of the Kotiti, and Mr M. H. Soares, the principal owner, is bboard as engineer. The vessel usually carried two or three dock hands.
