DRASTIC MOVE

BY IRISH GOVERNMENT. AGAINST REPUBLICANS. (United Press Association. —By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) LONDON, October 16. It is reported that the Irish Free State authorities are mow hurriedly preparing a number of internment camps ready for hundreds of arrests, which are expected to be affected when a swoop is made on revolutionary organisations on .Sunday next, immediately after the Governor-Gener-al of the Free State signs the Constitution Bill.

The Free State police and Free tftate Army are now preparing exhaustively to meet any possible armed resistance. There are now’ Army Tribunals, which are empowered to try offenders without any appeal.

Dublin City is amazed at the terms of the Government’s bill. A feeling is prevalent that the Government possess information, the seriousness of which lias not yet been disclosed. Mr Anthony, a Labourite, speaking on the second reading of the Bill in a crowded Dial Eireann, supported the measure. He expressed the opinion that the arguments of those opposing the Bill, were not directed to the protecting of the quiet citizens, but to the protection of “angles of our night,” who went about with blackened faces and with gums in their hands. President Cosgrave read a long list of unconvicted crimes, including the shooting of a police sergeant.
