■- » . At the Magistrate's Court, Kumara, on Wednesday, before Mr VV. Meldrum, 0.. M., Bert Fergusson was charged with using abusive language and behaving in a threatening manner at Kumara on October 10, Defendant did not appear, ■ John Perring said that he resided on the Beach Road. On Saturday, October 10, he had occasion to drive some <ows to tlie pound at Kumara and whilst- putting the cows in the pound, Fergusson appeared on the scene and challenged him to light. He refused to fight. Fergusson then forcibly took i-he cows out of the pound.

Mary A, Pei-ring, -said that on Saturday the 10th inst., she was at her home, when her attention was drawn to the but] roaring in the paddock, the reason being that there were four cows on the road. The cows were impounded. Fergusson wanted her father to fight, and took the cows away.

Defendant was convicted and fined 10s and costs of Court 16s and witnesses' expenses 20s. For allowing thrrv sheen to wander (second offence) B. Hama-sii was fined 20s with costs, and 1. Ken ting, two cows, 10s and costs. Alice Case v. J. C. Whithirington, jiinr., judgment summons £3 14s, Defendant, who did not appear, was ordered to pay the amount forthwith, in default IT days’ imprisonment. S. M. Case v. T, McAllister, junr., judgment summons £2 12s 6d,.—Order made for payment of 5s monthly. Same v. T. McAllister, sear., judgment summons £5 2s 6d.—Order made for- the payment of 7s 6d monthly. James Murphy v. Alexander and Eva Little, claim £172 rent, and possession of the property.—Judgment for amount claimed and costs, and an order made for possession, to be given up in a fortnight.
