DOCTORS CHARGED
WITH CAUSING DEATH. OF SEVENTY-FIVE INFANTS. •i (Timtes Service). BEKLIN, October 12. Doctors crowded the Court at Lubeck at the hearing of the sequel to the deaths of seventy-five 'infants, following on treatment by the Calmette anti-tuberular process last year. Professor Deyclc, head of the Lubeck General Hospital, Doctor Klotv:, head of the Children’s Hospital, Doctor Altstaedt, head of the Health Department, and nursing Sister Anna Schultze, were charged with negligence, causing manslaughter and bodily injury to 253 infants whereof 75 died, while oyer 100 were sei lousiy ill, many being J|t endangered. T 1 le Prosecutor alleges that insufficient care was taken in the preparation of the vaccine, the Calmette cul tores being kept in the same incu bator with virulent human tubercular Cultures. He also alleges the defendants’ failure t oc.is yrevco b, h.AIKPj ant.,’ failure to discover, by experiments on animals, whether the cultures were innocuous before their administration. The hearing was adjourned.
