The IYA evening session will be devoted to a relay of the concert to be given in the Town Hall by the Auckland Municipal Band, conducted by Air lleorge Buckley. The vocalists are two of Auckland’s favourites, Mrs Hal. C. McLennan and Mr- Alf Fogarty. Members of the Band appearing ,in instrumental items are Messrs F. Bowes, J. Davies, Jack Buckley, McLennan* Lye and Jackson
2YA will broadcast a programme by the Wellington Y.M.O.A. Optimists Club, The title of the entertainment is “Springtime Optimism.” A radio vaudeville, produced in 4Ya Studio this evening, will also be broadcast by 3YA. A mixed quartet will sing a number ,of popular choruses and songs—" Give Yourself a Pat on the 'Back,” “The Harp That Once,” “Why,” ‘‘Telling it to the Daisies” and “John Peel.” The Two Bmg Boys will contribute humour in song and story. Pipe Major A. McMillan and his pipes will present items, also Air W. C. Carey and his musical saw. There will be saxophone solos by Mr J. Al’Gee and banjo solos by (Air Oliver Stokes. Air R. B. AlcDonald will be heard in bass solos and duets with Miss E. Hayden. MONDAY, OCTOBER 12th. IYA Auckland will this evening be broadcastihg wrestling—Pinto v. Walker. An item of outstanding interest on 2YA’s programme will be the performance of the famous quartette from "Rigoletlo” by Alesdames Amy Woodward' and Wilfred Andrews, Messrs Denis (Shea,rd and Keith Grant. Air Grant is a baritone who has fulfilled a series of contracts with the Australian radio stations, as well as appearing as soloist with some of the chief musical societies of Australia and at Newcastle Cathedral. Miss Nora Gray will play the First 'Movement of Tschaikowsky’s brilliant “Concerto in B Flat Minor” with orchestral Accompaniment. The Orchestvina W'ijf accompany Aliss Ava Symons in the delightful little “Serenade” (by Drd'la), besides playing two selections. At 7.45, from 3YA, .Mr Te Ari Pitama will give a talk entitled “One Hundred 'Years Ago,’ his remarks having special reference to the celebrations to be held qn October 24, and 26, in connection with the centenary of the sacking of the Kaiapohia Pah by Te Rauparaha. The Christchurch Saxophone Band, under Air H. G. Glaysher—a combination of some thirty players— will provide the main portion oi 3YA’s programme. Assisting artists will be Miss 'Freda Judkins (soprano). Miss Hilda Andrews (mezzo-soprano), Mr H. J. Francis (tenor), Air Jack Blair (songs at the piano) and the Christchurch Broadcasting Trio. " Mr 'O. €. Billing, Lecturer on Economics at Otago University, wid speak during 4’YA’s International Programme this evening on “The 'Possible benefit of. an International Bank.”
