The New York Tribune-Herald announces that at a meeting at San Fran, cisco to-day, steps were taken to merge the Mercantile Marine, the Roosevelt, the Dollar, the Chapman, and the Dawson shipping interests, bringing under one head twelve American and foreign shipping lines operating on the Atlantic and the Pacific Coasts of the United States and to various parts of the world. The combine will own or control a fleet of 181 vessels, of almost 1,600,000 tons.
