WEDDING BELLS

RATHBUN—DIVIDE.

The wedding took place at St. Patrick’s Church, Greymouth, yesterday morning 'of Josephine Jane, only child of Mrs and the late Mr J. P■ Ji'vine, to Edward Ward, son of Mr and Mr W. Rathbun. The bride, given away by her uncle, Mr J. Weir, wore a frock of ivory crepe satin made on medieval lines. Two lines of hemstitching outlined the round neck, the waistline being defined by an inset ■panel of self material, the full length skirt forming a. short train. From ji a medici collar a row of tiny tons were set down the back, these also being on the hemstitched panels in the long sleeves. A sprig of orange blossom was posed on the shouder. Her veil of embroidered tulle was folded simply with bands of satin, with a small spray of orange blossom at each side. She wore ivory satin shoes t° match, and carried a sheaf of narcissus, freesias, and maidenhair fern. As bridesmaids, Misses Johanna and Sheila Murphy (cousins of the bride) wore shell-pink and mauve georgette frocks. From, the high waist the material was deeply shirred, then falling fully to the ankles. The threequarter length sleeves were shirred from shoulder to elbow, finishing with three frills. Folded collars of georgette and belts of pink and mauve velvet with brilliant buckles put the finishing touches. Large felt hats were worn in colours to match, with wide brims of embroidered felt. Satin shoes in mauve and pink and bouquets in the same shades completed the effect, Coral Weir (cousin of the bride) and Ailsa Rathbun (sister of the brjde, groom) as flower girls, wore primrose crepe-de chine full-length frocks with high waists'and deep pointed collars. The skirts were pin-tucked, and sashes of the same material were tied in large bows. Their tiny mob-caps had coronets of gold leaves, and. they carried posies to match. 1 Mr C. Rathbun was best man, and Mr B. Rathbun groomsman. Rev. Father Holohan officiated at the ceremony and at tlve Nuptial Mass which followed. Miss M. McSherry played the Wedding March, and “Ave Maria” was sung by Mrs P. Kane and Miss A. Saunders. The breakfast was held at Moore’s where Mrs Irvine received the guests weaving a black georgette and lace, frock and a smart navy Bangkok straw bat. Mr W. Rathbun wore a. beige tweed ccistume and black bat. Later Mr and Mrs Rathbun left lor Auckland and Rotorua, the bride wearing a smart ensemble, of French marocain in royal blue, the short coatee with flared basque effect) having black fur at the elbow, and the revers trimmed with pastel shades to tone. „ *
