CLIMBERS DEFEATED
ATTEMPT ON KANCHENJUNGA. SCALING THE HIMALAYAS. CALCUTTA, October 6. According to the “Calcutta. Statesman” Hr. Paul Bauer’s expedition to Kanchenjunga was defeated when within 2000 feet from the summit, by an unexpected wall of rock and ice 500 feet high, which it was impossible to scale owing to the great danger from avalanches.
