A BIG CLAIM

CHRISTCHURCH, October 8
The liquidation of Tongariro Park Tourist Company had a sequel in the Supreme Court to-day when A. J. White Dtd., furniture merchants of Christchurch sued Mount Cook Tourist Coy. for £1Q,865, an amount allegedly still owing to plaintiffs for furnishing the Chateau at Tongariro. The case is proceeding. In the statement of claim it was set out that Mount Cook Motor Coy. was formed in 1912. It had increased its activities till in 1929 it had changed its name to Mount Cook Tourist Coy., and had large interests throughout New Zealand. It was intimately associated with Tongariro Park Tourist Coy. It. L. *\Vigley was Chairman of Directors of each, and there was the same secretary. In 1929, furnishings valued at £15,475 were supplied the Chateau, freight costing £338. Subsequently £SOOO was paid by the Government and the balance is still owing. The statement of defence was that the contract had bpen entered into by Tongariro Park Company, and there was no liability on the part of Mount Cook Tourist Company.
