RANKWICK RACES. PHAR LAP’S NEW RECORD. (Australian Press Association.) SYDNEY, October 7. * For the third day Ik the A.J.C. Spring Meeting at Randwiek to-day, the weather was ideal, the track evcellent, and the attendance good. Phar Lap gave a splendid galloping exhibition in the Craven Plate, win ning on the bit, and breaking his own Australian record tor the distance. Movie Star attempted to steal the race in the Members’ Handicap, clearing out soon alter the barrier rose, but weakened in the final tussle. The evergreen First Acre scored a minor position in the Sydney Haim cap, due to a stout finishing effort. Results:— Hurdles.—Gadray 1, Banner Boy 2, Golden Tunic 3. Eight started. Gadray was the favourite. Six furlongs from home Gadray had charge, withstanding a desperate challenge by Banner Boy in the straight, and gained the verdict by a head. Tune 4.215. Craven Plate.—Phar Lap 1, Pehtheus 2, Chide 8. Carry On was the other starter. Pentheus quickly took charge, and led for a mile, where Pilar Lap fan to the front, and going on, won hard held by fduf lengths. Tihie 2.2}, winch is an Australian record.

Giutci'ack Stakes,—Precious Gift 1, All for Australia 2, Bonnie June 8. Ten started, Previous Gift was favourite. ’All for Australia, Cabaret and Precious Gift were together turning for

home. Passing the Leger stand, Precious Gift took charge, and won with eas e by two lengths. Time I.l}.

Suburban Handicap.—Nut Oup 1, Merab 2, King’s Arms 3. Twenty started. Gold Day was favourite. Ticino was the early, pacemaker, and led’ into the straight, closely- attended by Nut Cup, from Merab and Havaspot. From a liard-fought finish, Nup Cup emerged victorious by half a length. Sydney Handicap.—Veilmond 1, Loquacious 2, First Acre 3. Thirteen started.- Veilmond was favourite. Phillip and Potent led early, from First Acre, Greenbird and Sacbut. Potent was the first to turn for home from Loquacious and Veilmond, after u sharp tussle with Loquacious, snatched the victory by length. Time 2.33.
