WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 7th
This evening, “The Arcadians,” to be performed by the Hamilton Amateur Operatic Society, will be relayed by IYA..
The lecturer on the 2YA International Programme will be Dr Guy H. Scholefield 0.8. E.
The vocalists for 3YA’s operaticclassical programme will be Madame Gower Burns, Miss Alice Vinson, Mr Ernest Rogers and Mr R. Lake. The Grand Opera Quartet will sing two numbers by Mendelssohn—“ Spring Song,” and ‘‘Praise of Spring.” Miss Norma (Middleton, a brilliant young violiniste, will play two solos and two -Chopin numbers will be played by Miss Ellis Gilders, pianist. Vocal solos will include “The Flower Song” '(from “Faust”), two Grieg songs (“My Swan” and “Mornling,”) “All Hail Thou Dwelling” and ‘‘Go, Sir Page! Now Your Days of Philandering are Over-” An attractive programme will be given by the Studio Octet.
4YA will broadcast a studio concert ito be provided by the Dunedin Orchestral Society, under Mr Alfred Walmsley. Assisting vocal artists will be iMiss Evelyn Shepard, Miss Molly Vickers, Mr W. Bathgate, and Mr F. 'Watt. The programme will be a popular one. Some of the solos will be: Braga’s -“Serenafa” (sung to violin obligato),, “My Task,” “I Heard You Go By,” "To ithe Children,” “Till Dawn,” “The Sergeant Major’s on Parade,” “Angelas at Sea” and “The Erl King.” THURSDAY, OCTOBER Bth. A programme to be presented by the Auckland Orphan’s Club Orchestra, under the direction of Orphan Harold Baxter, and ass : sted by leading performers in the Club, will be broadcast by IYA this evening. Vocal numbers will be uiven by Orphans James Simpson and Bernard Carter and Orphan J- Finlayson will be heard in several humorous selections.
A studio concert by the Wellington Artillery Band, under .the conductorship of Captain T. Herd, V. D., will be broadcast by 2YA. Miss Grade Kerr and Mr James Cooke will be heard in two humorous sketches, The singers will be .Mr S. Evelyn Rodger (baritone) and Mrs Amy Dunn (soprano).
During the International Programme from 3YA, Air A. C. Brassington, LL. 8,, will speak on “The Problem ot Law and War.” Silent day at 4YA.
