MINING
AYVfi I’l'NA GOLD MINING GOV. Tins Company is working satisfactorily considering the difficulties they had to contend with in opening out dredging operations. The dredge has worked in a northerly direction, the ground treated hot being solid, having previously been worked over. The dredge is however, making headway into the solid ground which should be met in the course of a week. During the working of the dredge only a little gold has been got and it is fully anticipated on the boring tests the value of the ground will improve as they push ahead. The ground is of a very light nature and a large quantitv of material can easily be treated. Boring operations are being carried out on the eastern side of the railway. It is reported the ground is much deeper and of pug nature. Ihe dredge at work' is dredging at a depth of about 25 feet below water level and no stones or timber are being met with, consequently there are very little stoppages in the working.
