RADIO PROGRAMME
(Supplied by the Radio Broadcasting Company of N.Z. Ltd.) MONDAY, OCTOBER sth. This, evening, a concert to be given by the Returned Soldiers of Morrinsville, will be relayed by I"YA. Mr Ernest Jenner, pianist, will have charge of the 2YA “Musical Portrait"’ series this evening. With Miss Hilda Chudlev, contralto, he will present a half-hour of “Russian 'Music.’’ Miss 'Christina Ormiston, the popular Auckland soprano, will sing “One Fine Day” (from “Madame Butterfly”) and three of Liza Lehmann’s delightful “Bird Songs.” Mr D. L. Irwin, tenor, will be heard in “Lord Randall,” “A Fairy Tree” and “Where’er You 'Walk.’’ Miss Dorothy Spiller will sing songs by Beethoven, Hatton, and Montague Phillips. Mr Les. Stapp, light baritone, will also be ■ heard. The programme by the Orchestrina will include an arrangement by -Harty of Handel’s '‘Ariette Passacaglia.”
The first of the W.E.A. weekly talks at 3Y-A, under the new system of cooperation between the Association and the Broadcasting Company, will be given this evening by Mr Geo. Manning. He will speak on “International Causes of Depression. ’’ 3YA’s concert will be given by the v ew Brighton Municipal Band (conductor J. A. Xuttall) and assisting 3YA artists—Mrs T. Conway (mezzo-soprano), Miss Helen Mackay (soprano), Mr CleVe Rtewart (baritone), Mr Sidney ’‘Russ (baritone), and Miss Maisie Ottey (novelty pianiste). • Dr C. M. Focken, Lecturer in Physics, Otago University, will be the lecturer during the International Programme at 4YA.
TUESDAY, OCTOBER 6th
The speaker on the International Programme at ■ IYA this evening, will be Mr. Julius 'Hogben, lecturer on International Law at the Auckland University the subject being “The Conflict of Laws.”
Th'i 2YA programme will be of the popular type this evening. The Melodie Four win again delight listeners ill an excellent programme of quartettes 'and solos. A feature of these will be the quartet “Funiculi Funicula.” Mr W. W. Marshall, bass, will sing “Gipsy Dan," and Mr It. Allwright will be heard in “The Song of the Clock. ’ Miss Evelyn M. Robinson, contralto, will sing an “Kriskay Love Lilt,” “Last Night,” “The Last Hour,” and “Madrigal,” The Salon Orchestra’s programme will include some of the latest dance noveltes. Selected electrical recordings will be- included in the programme.
