PRECIOUS HANDS
KUBELIK’S HIGHER, INSURANCE. LONDON?, September 24. The famous violinist. Jan Kubelik, places a greater value on liis hands than the £24,000 for which he had them insured. He has cancelled that policy, declaring that the amount was not enough to compensate him for the loss of even one finger. On his arrival at Marseilles from Buenos Ayres, Kubelik told the "Daily Mail” correspondent that he would insure his hands for a much larger sum. "While on the voyage be composed two new' works. It is stated that Pavlova’s legs were insured for £IO,OOO, and the eyes of Phyllis Konstam, the film actress, are said to be insured for the same amount. Mark Hambourg’s hands are believed to have been insured for £IO,OOO, and Paderewski, in his heyday, is reputed to have taken out a simlar policy for a huge figure.
