JOCKEY’S FEES
(United Press Association.—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) LONDON. October 4. Gordon Richards, the champion jockey, has contracted to ride lor Beekhampton stable next season. He is to receive a retaining fee of £4,000 plus ten per cent, of the stakes won by the horses he rides. The stable this vear won £75,000 w . » w « m ■ , i ■ in stake money. Assuming it to be equally successful in 1932, Richards will receive £II,OOO. He will be at liberty to ride for other stables in races where Beekhampton is not represented, ensuring at least an additional two thousand, as there is a big demand for his services. Thus there is a prospect of a total income of seventeen thousand, the highest in the history of racing. A sixteen year's old boy will earn at least £2,500 in the 1932 season, owing to Lord Glanely appointing F. (Ricliby to succeed Richards, who in addition to a two thousand five hundred retainer receives a share of the stake money.
