jgVERYBDDYS PICTURES. TO-NIGHT AND TUESDAY. A DOUBLE STAR PROGRAMME. “RENO” AND “ARE YOU THERE?” For quit© some time since the advent of talking pictures, fans have written to Miss Roland asking when she would enter the field again, as they were desirous of hearing her voice. The reason she has waited this long was because she had not found a story suitable. Now that she is appearing in the stellar role of “Reno, at the Princess Theatre, Miss Roland feels that she has a story that will appeal to the public and gives her a splendid opportunity to demonr 1 . strate her ability as a. singer as werl as an actress. Cornelius Vanderbilt, Jr., scion of one of America’s most noted families, is the author of the sensational novel on which the talking picture is based. “Reno” was Mr Vanderbilt’s first brain child, and his first to reach the screen. .It was written in the famous Nevada city, from observations of the working of the divorce mill. Supporting Miss Roland in the stellar role is a cast of film celebrities, including Kenneth Thomson, Montagu Love, Judith Vosselli, Sam Hardy, Doris Lloyd and Alyce McCormick. George J. Crone directed the production, a Sono-Art World Wide release, from the adaptation provided by Harry E. Chandlee-and Douglas Churchill.
“ARE YOU THERE?” Yes, she would save the family jewels from the villains. But wait—! Was it all as easy as that? No! In the best Sherlock Holmes manner with the latest mode in whiskers —let’s see, does a lady detective wear whiskers?— she brings the vile desperadoes to justice.
Beatrice Lillie, known the world over for her comical capers and songs is funnier than ever before as the lady detective in this Fox Movietone musical farce “Are You There?” at the Princess Theatre to-night and Tuesday. Other prominent members of this cast which Hamilton MacFadden directed include John Garrick, Olga BacJanova, Jillian Sand, Lloyd Hamilton, and Paula Langlen.
