SATURDAY, OCTOBER 3rd. The Auckland Municipal Band, under the direction of Mr George Buckley, Ls providing lYA’s programme this evening.
A concert by the Wellington Apollo (Singers, under the conduetorship of Mr H. Temple White, will be relayed from the''Wellington Town Hall by 2YA. A very fine programme has been arranged, the features of which will be pianoforte solos by Mr Ernest Jenner, A.R.A.M., bass solos by Mr J. M. Caldwell, and tenor solos by Mr Eric Rishworth. Coster songs by Mr George'Titchener, .songs at the piano with hanjolele by ihe Rose and Thistle Duo, popular airs by Miss Elaine Mood's Hawaiian Trio '(with ukelele and Spanish and steel guitars), entertaining items by The Two Rascals and a bright programme by the 'Christchurch Salon Orchestra (under Mr Francis Bate) will constitute 3YA’s vaudeville entertainment, which will also be broadcast by 4YA. MOiNDAY, OCTOBER sth. This evening, a concert to be given by the Returned Soldiers of Morrinsville, will be relayed by IYA.
Mr Ernest Jenner, pianist, will have charge of the 2YA “Musical Portrait 11 s.ries this evening. With Miss Hilda Chudley, contralto, he will present a half-hour of “Russian Music,’’ Miss Christina Ormiston, the popular Auckland soprano, will sing “One. Fine Day” (from “Madame .Butterfly”) aud three of Liza Lehmann’s delightful "Bird Songs.” Mr D. L. Irwin, tenor, will be heard ill “Lord Randall,’ 1 "A Fairy, Tree! 1 and "Where’er You 'Walk.’’ Miss Dorothy Spiller Yvill ’sing songs by Beethoven, Hatton and Montague Phillips. Mr Les. Stapp, light baritone, will also be heard. The programme by the Orchestrina will include an arrangement by Marty of Handel’s TAriette Passacaglia.” The first of the W.E.A. weekly talks St 3'YA, under the new .system of cooperation between the Association and the Broadcasting Company, will be given this evening by Mr Geo. Manning. He will speak on "International Causes of Depression,” 3YA’s concert will be given by the v e w Brighton Municipal Band (conductor J. A. Nuttall) and assisting 3YA artists —Mrs T. Conway (mezzo-soprano), Miss Helen Mackay (soprano), Mr Cleve Stewart (baritone), Mr Sidney Russ (baritone), and Miss Maisie Ottey. (novelty pianiste). * Dr 0. M. Focken, Lecturer in Physics, Otago University, will be the lecturer during the International Programme at ,4YA.
