NEW GOVERNMENT IN TREASURY
BENCHES.
HON. G. W. FORBES’ STATEMENT.
(By Telegraph—Per Press Association)
WELLINGTON, October 2. With a new Government occupying the Treasury benches mid Labour as official Opposition, the House of Representatives met at 10.30 this morning. The very thin attendance in the galleries indicated that the public had satisfied itself that temporarily at least the sensational devsh pments that characterised the recent sittings have come to an end. There is likely to he a renewal of interest, however, when the Policy Statement is submitted on Tuesday. Hon. G. G. Forbes replying to the Leader of the Opposition (Hon. H. E. Holland) said after the Statement was presented on Tuesday, it was proposed to adjourn consideration till Thursday to enable members fully to understand the position. In the meantime the Railway Board’s report- on the lines under construction would be dealt with.,
I’he Imprest Supply Bill was introduced and accorded urgency on the motion of Hon. W. D. Stewart.
