FATAL FIRE

MAN BURNED TO DEATH. TAUMARUNUI, September 30. Robert Chelberg, sixty-five, who occupied a room in a detached building at the rear of the Regent Hotel, was burned to death at midnight. When the fire was noticed his room was a mass of flames and it was impossible to get in to extricate the doomed man. The Brigade soon had the' fire under control. The cause of the fire is unknown. ; ; Deceased was in the habit of sinoicing in bed, and the ash from his pipe may have been responsible.
