THEFT FROM CAR. 'By Telegraph.—Per Press Association) TIMARU, September 26. Helping himself to a parcel which he saw in a car parked in Barnard Street, Charles John Jordon, an unemployed seaman, was detected by the owrier of the car. Frank Edward Squire, a farmer of Hadlow, who gave chase. Jordon eluded his pursuer by vanishing into a house, hut Constable Hogg arrested him later in the street. He appeared to-day charged with the theft of goods valued at 9s Sergeant Hodgson said that a good many of these thefts were g-nig on, and it was hard to detect offenders. A fine of £2 and costs, in default forty-eight hours’ imprisonment, was imposed.
