OBITUARY. (By Telegraph —Per Press Association) AUCKLAND, September 29. Obituary.—Dr F. J. Rayner, aged 56, prominent dental practitioner, sportsman, trotting owner and investor. CHARGE OF BESETTING. CHRISTCHURCH, September; 29. Following the picketing off of the garden s yesterday when men were fenerations, the police tord.ay, charged Herbert Edwin Barnsley, 51, and Ernest Llewellyn Jones, 24, with besetting the workers with a view to compelling them to abstain from working. They were remanded to October 6th, hail being allowed in £2OO each. The police described Jones as a man with a bad criminal record. DIRECTOR OF AIR SERVICES. WELLINGTON, September 29. The term for which Grant Dalton was anointed Director of Air Services expires at jthe end of this month, but no official information is obtainable at present whether he will be reappointed for a further term. It is believed, however, that he is anxious to return ot the Old Country. From inquiries made at official quarters'it is gathered there is no ground for the statement that Wilkes is to succeed to the office.
