MR SNOWDEN’S TAUNT. THE GOLD STANDARD. (United Press Association.—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) (Received this day at 12.25. p.m.) LONDON, September 28. Mr Snowden in the Commons replying to Mr Wise’s question regarding the extent of the National debt, said a. thousand million sterling was owing us by Russia. Nobody could render a greater service y to the country than Mr Wise, if he induced his Bolshevik friends to pay a year’s interest thereon. Mr Snowden added that Portugal, Norway, Sweden and Bolivia had temporarily abandoned the gold standard. Denmark had prohibited the export of gold.
