WESTLAND COUNTY COUNCIL. BY-LAW RELATING TO HAWKERS AND PEDLARS. T> UBL I C NOTICE is hereby given ■*" that the Council at a Special Meeting called for the purpose on th L > Bth day of September, 1931, passed a resolution making By-Law No. 10, and repealing By-LAW No. 4, relating U> Hawkers and Pedlars. The object and purport of the ByLaw is to make provision for the good rule and government of tile County oi Westland in respect to Hawkers ami Pedlars. Under the By-Law, no person or persons, company, or companies, shal, carry on the trade of a Hawker, or shall hawk for sale as a Hawker, oi Pedlar in any part of the County any goods or articles (excepting perishable articles of human food and printed books, magazines, pamphlets, and newspapers) without a license authorising such person so to do, signed by the County Clerk. Every Hawker and Pedlar shall pro-' (luce his license for inspection when required to do so by any Constable, Road Overseer, 'lra (lie Inspector, or any person authorised in that behaL by the Council, and if lie refuses or fails, commits a hreheli oi tin* By-Law and is liable to a penalty. The By-Law shall not apply to tanners, Market Gardeners, or Dairymen resident in the County, selling theii own produce. Penalty for breach of any of the provisions of By-Law shall not exceed LlO, or for a continuing offence to for every day during which breach occurs. By-Law No. "4 'referring to the licensing of Hawkers and Pedlars is iieivby repealed. Licenses will he issued by the County Clerk, fee C2 per annum. The By-Law when adopted finally shall come into force on the Ist day of December, 1931. The By-Law will he confirmed at a subsequent meeting of the Council to ho held on the 13th day of October, 1931, and a full copy of the proposed By-Law may he seen at the County Office, Hokitika, during ordinary office hours.
