PROTEST AGAINST ROUGH TACTICS. (Jiy Telegraph—Per Press Aiaoeiati®®) CHRISTCHURCH, September 21. - The City Council to-night discussed a report of the By-Laws Committee recommending that the Municipal Concert Hall be not let in future for professional wrestling contests. A strong and heated attack on a recent exhibition was led by Rev. J. K. Archer, who was Supported by other Councillors, who used such terms as ‘“diabolical,” “abominable,” ‘“degrading,” and “vulgar.” Councillor Evans moved an amendment to the report that the Council should warn the Wrestling Association that, if the contests were not better conducted in future, the lease of the hall would be refused. The amendment was negatived by nine votes to eight, and th© leporr was also rejected by the same vote.
