In 1922 lie was sentenced bo five years’ imprisonment and was declared an habitual criminal on a charge of arson, having burned down a house at Kaikoura on May o, 1922, with intent to defraud an insurance company. When lie was first charged at the Supreme Court, Christchurch, the jury ’failed to agree. At a, re-trail lie was found guilty and on the case being put before the Court of Appeal this verdict was upheld;' • SYDNEY, Sept. 2l>.
Mond and Cunningham were remanded until Sirntember 22nd. on £IOO bail.
