OFFERS TO CRICKETERS

FOUR NAMES .MENTIONhi)

COUNTIES LOOK FOB PLAYERS

WELLINGTON, .September 15

Private advices from England indicate that L B. Cromb is not the only member of the New' Zealand cricket team to have received ail, offer to play as a professional in England. One or two others members of the team have been approached, and it is stated that, as .in Cromb’s case, the offers have Ken very tempting. In one or two cases the players have been sounded as to the prospects of qualifying for county cricket.

The outstanding ability of C. .S. Dempster and K. C. James as batsmkn and wicketkeeper respectively are known to have appealed, strongly to sides in search of new talent, and one county in particular is very keen to secure James's services. It appears ■too. that R. C. Blunt would not be wanting for an engagement if he chose to return to England. The terms of the agreement between the New Zealand cricket representatives and the New Zealand Cricket Council make it necessary for the, players to return to the Dominion and continue in the game here for a definite period. Dempster. of course, is under engagement to the Wellington Cricket Association for two more years.
