CROSSING TRAGEDY

# ROTORUA, September 16
A Maori woman, Mrs Ngawhapipi Aua, 80 years of age, was killed instantly by the Auckland express at the Ngongotaha railway crossing snorCy after 10 o’clock thi s morning. The deceased, who was a widow residing with her son, Peter Tua, at Ngongo-, taha, had just made purchases at a store, and was returning home, and was travelling slowly. The train crewsay that she started to run across the line when the whist'e was blown. She was well-known to them as she frequently crossed the line about the time That the train passed. The inquest will probably be held on Thursday.
