Norman Smith leaves for New Zealand about the middle of November. He expects to make an attempt on the speed record at Ninety Mile Beach on November 20th. His ear, which resembles the Golden Arrow, is almost completed. The finishing touches are' now adding at a local engineering works.

Smith received a cordial letter from Sir Malcolm Campbell, wishing him success hut giving not the slightest hint whether he is visiting either Australia or , New Zealand,: as anticipated.
