SHOCKING ACCIDENT
MAN’S ARM TORN OFF. (United Press Association.—By Electric , Telegraph.—Copyright.) LONDON, September 14. An first nice of an ex-digger’s remark, aide fortitude was reported from Cardiff. where an Australian, Geroge McDavitt, able seaman, i,s now in hosnital with one arm torn from the socket. M.cDavitt was recently stranded in London, and thanks to the help of the New Zealand Government, was found a position on the steamer Argus, hound for New Zealand. McDavftt was assisting to load the vessel at Cardiff, when his arm became entangled in a winch rope, and wsjs torn off. McDavitt was in agony, but calmly lit a cigarette and smoked, until an ambulance arrived.
