STORM IN' CANTIvEBUIiY. (lhj Telegraph—Per Press Association ; ; CHRISTCHURCH, September 16. * A heavy southerly storm . visifed Canterbury overnight and. .to-day with torrential rain. Coastal shipping is delayed and there are minor floods in the suburbs. CONCILIATION COUNCIL CHRISTCHURCH, September 16. Claims by employers and employees relating to the new Dominion award for amalgamated engineering and allied trades were discussed at the Conciliation Council to-day.- The employees main claim was for £6 a week for motor mechanics for a 42 hour week. All the clauses were contested, the employers asking for a 48 hour week and wage of £4 9s for motor mechanics. Argument is proceeding.
