Mir A. J, Murray, who gave evu dence before the Board, declared that it was his belief that the Railway Board’s mind was made up long before it visited Marlborough. He challenged the Board to disprove or discount the figures which lie had placed before it. Mr Healv, M.Pi, said: “Tf the Railway Board, or anyone else, thinks that, with the aspirations of seventy years in sight of realisation, we a,re going to knuckle down to a Board, which simply dismisses our case with the words: “I don’t believe you”— then they have another thing coming.” . \ Mr Healv referred to the Railway Boards Ireferenees to unemployment as being “those for a cold-blooded organisation, for which we have no time in New Zealand.” The meeting appointed a Sub-Com-mittee to reply to the Board, through the Minister.

Similar meetings of protest, are to be held at Blenheim, Picton, Kailcoiira and elsewhere.
