BRITISH MOTORS 'LOOKING UP.’
LONDON, September 4. Big forward nioves are planned by British car firms this year. Sir Herbert Austin, chairman of Austin Motors, Ltd., announced! the 1932 programme involved the. manufacture of a motor ear every two minutes. No new model would he introduced. because annual changes contused the public. Sales in the past 10 months showed 25 per cent, increase compared with the previous 12 months. Announcing that, inquiries were 30 per cent above the previous year’s, and that orders for immediate delivery amounted to 350,000. Sir "William Morris, chairman of Morris Motors Ltd., declared that tin's was proof that trade was reviving in consequence of the National Government.
• Sir William said he -had .negotiated forward contracts to the value of £10,000,000 with the motor trade. He would ship onlv chassis to Australia, where the bodies would he locally manufactured.
