RADIO PROGRAMME

MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 14th
IYA will be broadcasting wrestling this evening. The principal match will be Buresch v. Pinto.
“Glimpses of 'Russian /Music” will form Ithe subject of 2YA’s weekly ‘Musical Portrait.” The vocal side of the programme will be of a popular nature and will be supplied by those favourite artists—'Mrs Amy Woodward, Mrs Wilfred Andrews and Mr Herbert Wood. Several request numbers have been included ( by the ladies, among them being raddle's /Home Song” and “My Hero” (from “The Chocolate Soldier.’’). The famous “•Miserere” duet froni “11 Trovatore” will be sung by Mrs Amy Woodward and •Mr Herbert Wood. ,
The Woolston Band, under conductor R. J. Estall, jn association with vocal artists and the Christchurch Broadcasting Trio, will provide 3YA’s programme. The singer* will Be /Miss H. Hodder, 'Mr J. 'it. Burtt and Mr Clive Hindle. The item* will be old favourites. Bandsman Simpson will play the cornet solo “Zelda.” The Woolston Band will, as usual, present a very attractive programme.
The speaker on the International Programme at 4YA will be Mr John Ash of the literary staff of the “Evening Star.” He will speak on “Latin America—the International Outlook.” TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 15th. The speaker on the IYA International Programme this evening will be Professor H. Belshaw, Professor of Economics at the Auckland University. He will speak on “International Economic Co-operation »s a factor in World Prosperity.” A\ feature of 2YA’s programme will be an instrumental duo—Miss Dorothy Hughes-Johnson (violin) and Mr Horatio Nelson (piano). The vocal portion of the programme will be in the hands of the popular Lyric Quartet who will be heard in solos, duets and quartettes. The Salon Orchestra will supply incidental music. A concert to be given in the Concert Chamber of the Town Hall by the Dunedin Philharmonic Society, under Signor Squarise will be broadcast by 4YA. A very •fine programme has been arranged. The numbers will include: “Stradella” overture, “L.ebestraum,” “Marche Slav,” “La Boheme” fantasia and the overture “Au Bois Joli.” Two compositions by Signor I4qu*ri»« will *l*o be played—the march “Les Adieus” and a trio for two violins and a piano. Silent day at 3YA.
