BOY SUFFOCATED

IN A MOTOR CAR (By Telegraph—Per Press Association) WANGANUI, September 12. A two year old hoy named Lawrence James Healy, died under peculiar circumstances in a motor car near Kauangaroa early this morning. His • parents had been to a dance taking their boy and girl with them. Bctn were left to sleep on the mattress on the floor of the car, and the parents looked in at them two.or three times during the dance to see that they were all right. At about 3.33 a.m., the parents left the dance, and when starting the car, the childien „woke up and spoke to the parents. There was some trouble in starting the engine of the car, a Ford, and later on, on the road, the lights went out, and the car ran off the road and stuck in , some soft c'av. The father went to ’ return to the hall to get anoher car and in the meantime, ~ the peculiar breathing of the hoy attracted the attenion of his mother and another relation, The boy was ulico.iiscpra when picked up, and he expired in a few minutes. An inquest was held, at which Dr. Adams expressed the Opinion that the boy’s death was due to Hide gas entering the floor of the car. . Dr Adams issued a warning that it was a dangerous practice to leave children covered up asleep on the floors of cars.
