TO-NIGHT AND SATURDAY

BUCK JONES IN “THE FIGHTING SHERIFF.”

There is just one thing that will stir Buck Jones up to the . point of bragging a bit, and that is a new accomplishment acquired by his horse, Silver. You ’see, Buck, whose newest starring vehicle for Columbia is “The Fighting Sheriff,” showing to-night at the Princess Theatre, has done so many remarkable things himself that it’s practically impossible for him to wax enthusiastic over any of his' own new stunts. But Silver is different! Silver is the ace cowboy’s pride, and every time the talented animal masters a new trick, Buck’s chest swells with pardonable pride. Leisure hours for Buck are usually ’’working hours for Silver, and it was :in the interim between the making of .“The Texas Ranger” and “The Fighting Sheriff” that Silver practically leaped out of the horse High School and entered college. To be exact, he mastered the stunt of crawling on his stomach like a dog. This stunt Buck deems of especial value, as it will enable Silver to successfully impersonate a horse that has been wounded in a shooting fray and wants to get under cover to preverit receiving further injuries.

Silver has shown approval of his master’s new leading lady, Loretta Sayers, who. plays opposite Buck in ■ t'The Fighting Sheriff,” by condescending to eat a couple of lumps of sugar from her hand. Besides this accomplished trio—Buck, Loretta and Silver—‘the cast of the picture includes Robert Ellis, Nena Quartaro, Tom 'Bay, Paul Fix, Harlan E. Knight, Lillianne Leighton, Lillian Worth and Clarence Muse. Louis King directed.
