Mary Hawke, wife of deceased, gave evidence of identification, and said that her husband was fifty seven years of age and was a native'of Geraldine. H 0 had resided at Seadown for eleven years. He spoke to her at 2 a.in., when he complained of sickness and asked for a candle, hut witness refused, being afraid of fire, as deceased wanted to read. Later he made a fire, and afterwards witness sent daughter to see where he was. Witness herself went into the granary and discovered him hanging from a rafter. She removed the body and commenced artificial respiration, but without success. Deceased had been unwell for some time and had sought medical advice. He had been worried over finance, having Dst £llOO on the farm he had iust sold. Margaret Lucy Hawke, daughter of deceased gave corroborative evidence.
