OIL FROM MOTUROA WELL
NEW METHOD OF. CONTROL. NEW PLYMOUTH, September 1. “Three days were occupied in tubing Moturoa No. 2 well and fixing control and flow arrangements, after which tile well flowed 180 barrels of oil,” reports Moturoa Oil Fields, Ltd. “Indications are that production will increase. The well produced a further 100 barrels yesterday morning. All storage space at the site of the well is now filled, according to the managing director, Mr C. W. Taylor. About nine hundred barrels of oil (of 35 Imperial gallons) is in the tanks. The company’s lorry was yesterday engaged in conveying oil into storage. Through the courtesy of the Blenheim Oil Company arrangements have been made to use one of the company’s tanks capable of taking 1600 barrels, and it is intended to pump the oil to this direct from the Moturoa well tanks, 300 yards away. There was a slight blockage of debris in the bore on Saturday but this was cleared by the pressure and it was when the well was opened yesterday morning after being closed for the week-end that the 100 barrels flowed. Those connected with the bore are optimistic regarding the future and consider they have found a steady producer. Within the next fortnight it is hoped to be able to give a definite 1 production figure. Up to th e present sufficient storage has not been avail* able to make a satisfactory teM,
